Yorke Peninsula Bus Trip

About

Join WoTL for a day out from normal life & no children for networking, discovering our backyard and learning about some of the amazing local business on the southern Yorke Peninsula. 

 

  • Starting at Kadina the bus will travel to Minlaton with takeaway coffee’s and pick ups along the way.
  • Then it’s onto Lower Yorke seafood where Joanna Rowe will show us through her family’s business and facilities, before travelling into Warooka to beautiful Ballara Art & Lifestyle retreat for a tour and lunch hosted by chef, Jo Minks of Nourished by Jo. View the menu here.
  • A mini mindfulness session will follow lunch with simple demonstrations and tips, conversation and ideas around promoting everyday wellbeing through movement and connection.
  • Following Ballara we travel back to Minlaton to Watsacowie Brewery, where Brendan and Roxanne Phasey will tell their business’s story. There will be time for drinks and afternoon tea before departing for home.

Location

Leaving from Kadina at 8.30am, with optional pick up at Arthurton, Maitland & Minlaton, visiting Lower Yorke Seafood, Ballara Art & Lifestyle Retreat, Watsacowie Brewing Co, & return.

 

Cost

$55 + booking fee.

The day includes morning and afternoon tea, lunch, bus travel, and all tour inclusions.

The full cost of this workshop is $200 per person which has been heavily reduced thanks to support of event sponsors.

About your presenter

Lower Yorke Seafood, Jo Rowe

Lower Yorke Seadfood started with Jo’s father-in law as a commercial rock lobster fisher in 1980 and more recently it has branched into processing and selling seafood on the wholesale and retail markets in 2020. Jo will show us through her family run seafood business and give insight to seafood industry.

Ballara Art & Lifestyle Retreat, Steph Ball & Lianne Cook

Ballara’s owner Steph had a vision to create a ‘hub’ to encourage, inspire, nurture and celebrate creative expression, community involvement and initiatives and cultural collaboration.  Together with Lianne Cook Ballara was created. Steph and Lianne will take us on a tour of beautiful Ballara, explaining their business and what is on offer.

 

About your presenter

Nourished by Jo, Jo Minks

Local chef and foodie Jo Minks has been part of southern Yorke Peninsula communities for more than 3 decades, gathering locals and visitors alike around tables to enjoy wholesome food, local flavours and community connection. A qualified chef of 25 years, Jo is passionate about celebrating the beautiful Yorke Peninsula through food & gardening, community connection & wellbeing projects, education & workshops and special events. She is an avid supporter of local communities groups and business, and enjoys working with schools delivering programs and learning around sustainable edible gardens, environmental projects and wholesome, whole food preparation. Her business ‘Nourished by Jo’ encompasses all of her interest areas, and grew from a desire to celebrate and share the wonderful flavours here on SYP. JO will prepare a delious lunch and talk us through a mini mindfulness session with simple demonstrations and tips, conversation and ideas around promoting everyday wellbeing through movement and connection.

Watsacowie Brewing Co, Brendan & Roxanne Phasey

A family owned and run craft brewery based in the heart of the Southern Yorke peninsula at Minlaton.  Roaxanne will share their story of creating a brewery from scratch and lessons learned. There will be time to enjoy the cosy facility and for those incline enjoy some of their products.
