Livestock, Nutrition and You – Clare Valley 2026
Learn about managing cattle and sheep nutrition for optimal performance, including managing the autumn feed gap.
About
This interactive workshop will focus on some of the key principles of managing livestock nutritional requirements throughout a production year. We’re stripping back the jargon to give you practical, no-nonsense tools to manage your livestock with confidence.
The day will cover:
- Meeting nutritional needs of sheep/cattle in pregnancy and lactation
- Livestock health management
- Decision making points for confinement feeding and managing the autumn feed gap
- Feed budgeting
- Condition scoring practical
- An opportunity to ask questions in a supportive environment, and build a network of local women.
Part of the workshop will take place outdoors, please bring sun protection and wear suitable shoes.

Cost
The cost of this workshop is $55 + booking fee and includes morning tea and lunch.
The full cost of this workshop is $270 per person which has been heavily reduced thanks to the support of event sponsors.

About your presenter
Deb Scammell, Talking Livestock
Deb Scammell is a livestock consultant and founder of Talking Livestock, assisting producers with practical nutrition and production planning across sheep and beef enterprises. She works closely with producers to improve animal performance, health and profitability, and also delivers industry training, research, projects, and extension programs. Deb is based in the Clare Valley, South Australia. Deb has also been involved in sheep genetics and breeding programs, DNA technologies, electronic identification (EID) systems, and applied sheep research and extension.
