Seasonal wrap-up and outlook for 2024 workshop – Cowell SA

Come along and hear about the 2023 harvest, what agronomic issues the region faced, as well as be inspired by a farm diversification story!

About

Led by agronomist, Sarah Meyer and Jasmin Piggott, owner of Poodra Springs Native Flowers, this workshop will include:

  • A 2023 harvest wrap-up recapping agronomic issues in the Cowell and Rudall District.
  • An opportunity to investigate areas of priority for land management to assist in decision making for the 2024 season.
  • How you can build confidence in contributing to future crop management decision making.

We will also:

  • Hear about Jasmin’s farm diversification story, adding a flower farm and hospitality to their farming enterprise.
  • Collaborate with like-minded community.
  • Take some time out to learn and connect, before we move into a new season.

 Poodra Springs Native Flowers, Cowell-Mangalo Road, Miltalie SA.

 

Cost

$22 + booking fee.

The day includes morning tea and lunch.

Sarah Meyer, Agronomist, Cleve Rural Traders

Sarah has been working for Cleve Rural Traders since November 2009 when she completed her Bachelor of Agriculture at The University of Adelaide, Roseworthy Campus. Sarah has great local knowledge after growing up on her family farm at Darke Peak, and her extensive agronomy experience supports her passion for the job, rural life, and community.

 

Jasmin Piggott, Poodra Springs Native Flowers

Jasmin has been a leader in the Cowell Community for a number of years in various community roles, and is currently working as a WoTL Ambassador. In 2020 she started Poodra Springs Flower Farm which now hosts events including weddings, school graduations and farm tours. Passionate about supporting women in Ag and rural communities, Jasmin has been awarded the Ag Bureau Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship and recently graduated from the WoTL Stepping Into Leadership Program.
